Design Sketch

For my last post of the year I have made this card for the Marianne Design Challenge. I hope I have interpreted the rules correctly as some things get lost in translation.

I used Kraft card for the card base and I gave the image a sepia tint on my computer with Picassa and tinted the edges with Tea Die distress ink. The  larger rectangle was the reverse of the background paper mounted on aqua card. MD products used are LR0112 swirls, LR0156 leaves, COL1304 flower,  DF3416 Marrakesh all cut from cream card and PL4503 enamel stickers. I added some lace, twine, tinted seam binding, blue dragonflies and a blue gem for the flower centre.

Winter Fun

I found this Scrap of blue paper and liked the snow effect so I went with the blue colour scheme with a splash of orange contrast in Don's scarf.

I wanted to make a frosty looking flower so cut out a flower COL1304 in white card overlaid with vellum and embossed with frantage Shabby blue.
I went a bit overboard with the die cuts. I cut MD LR0130 Doily and LR0285 Vintage Corners out of blue card, CR1201 Circle to frame Don and out of white card I cut LR0125 Snowflake, LR0192 Leaves, LR0241 Label and DF 3416 Marakesh. Frosty

It has definitely turned colder and the challenge for Kreadiva's is Frosty Impressions so I have used my new stamp Daisy's Pirouette.

I have used MD Passe partout die to frame her. I used LR0112 snowflake, LR0192 leaves and LR0205 fence to cut out in white card and tint with distress ink. I added some lace along the top and sequins along the bottom and the snowflake centres.

To add to the Frosty feeling I have used  Frantage Vintage Embossing Powder and Liquid Pearls around Daisy.

I didn't know how to use this Indigoblu paper, but in the light of recent events I have made this card thinking not only of those in Paris but all who are innocent victims in this world that can only be fixed by God.

I have used  the following MD dies, LR0258 garden bench, LR0112 swirl, LR0156 leaves and DF3416 Marrakesh.

Bake me a Cake

The challenge for Cute Card Thursday this week is Food and Drink and so a chance to use this lovely Raspberry Road paper. My image is DDS3341 Tea for Two coloured with Spectrum Noir.

I used LR0201 Anja Lace Border on the reverse of the paper and LR0143 Corner Swirl with the pale green backing card, The image was framed with CR1249 Stitched Square. The leaves are LR1056 and I added some bought mulberry flowers with tiny gems in the centres and two large gems in the right hand corners.

Autumn Colours

I made this for the Marianne Design challenge. The autumn colours have been beautiful this year with the mild weather and the leaves staying on the trees. I think this is my favourite time of year, that is until springtime.

I used Daisy in the Park (DSS3318) in a contemplative mood, looking at the fallen leaves (CR1336). I added a few on the branch (LR0290). The birds are ready to fly south for winter. I framed Daisy with LR0276 Petra's Bridge cut from Kraft Card. I added leaves (LR0192) and a mulberry flower in one corner.

Thankful

There are so many Challenge blogs out there, I don't have enough hours in the day to go through them all. So I tend to be selective, ones that inspire or fit into my style (not sure what that is yet). I love Marianne Design so of course choose their challenges, but another favourite is the Shabby Tea Room who chose me for their Tea Time Terrific Top Three again. Their present Challenge is Thankful for which I made this card. It is kind of Shabby Chic so fits the Make My Monday Challenge too.

The background is IndigoBlu Belle Epoque and I slightly distressed and daubed gesso round the edges. I cut some flowers out of a piece of lace and layered onto a bit of spider's web with a large pearl centre. Marianne Design dies used are LR0122 swirl, LR0130 doily, LR0192 leaves, LR0285 corner, COL1379 orchid.

Winter Sparkle

I have tried to keep my Colour scheme in line with the Make My Monday Challenge and layered the pretty paper onto deep turquoise card.

I chose Don Skating and coloured with my markers. I added some texture for snow and sprinkled with a little glitter. I added some sequins for snowflakes. I framed it with the stitched square.
I used white card to cut the Marakesh trellis and snowflakes, aqua for the poinsettia, to which I added glitter glue, and deep turquoise for the swirl.
I added some aqua twine, gems in the centre of the snowflakes and white lace along the bottom.
Marianne Design products used DDS3315, LR0112, LR0142, CR1249 and DF3416

New Home

The challenge for Marianne Kreadiva's is Anything Goes so I have used Don and Daisy Moving (DDS3302) and put behind them some pretty floral paper layered on to Kraft card . For the 'outside' I have used some Alla Prima paper.

I have used Kraft card for the die cuts. A topiary tree either side, a lamp with patterned paper shade and New Home. I coloured the little gem butterflies and added a wooden clock and ribbon.
Marianne dies used LR0261 topiary, LR0267 lamp, CR1314 new home.

Autumn Colours

The Challenge for the Don and Daisy blog is a round card and MD Circle Frame die I think is great for a round easel card. Here I have cut it out of Kraft card and mounted on cream card.

I have Don busy with his wood-working skills surrounded by autumn leaves cut from mulberry paper, with a bird house he has made. I have added some butterflies in orange card and a sentiment on cream card coloured with Vintage Photo distress ink.

I have decorated inside and added a little wooden stopper. Marianne Design products used DDS3327 Handyman Don, LR0112 Circle Frame, LR0261 Butterflies, Anja's label, CR1336 Autumn Leaves.

Nature

Winter is on the way but I am thinking of spring with this card. I have Daisy enjoying the countryside and watching these 2 little lambs who seem to have escaped their field.

I have used my new Village Scene dies for the background fence and tree and Flower Border die for the front. The daisies are made with paper punches with Flowersoft centres. And I just love these dragonfly gems. I hope they qualify me for the Cute Card Thursday challenge. Marianne Design products used DDS3318 Daisy in the park, CR1273 flower border, COL1383 village, LR0205 bird, LR0358 lamb, LR0156 leaves.

Black and white

The theme for the Make My Monday Challenge is Black and White with a hint of one other Colour. I have chosen to use the Marianne Design Embossing folder DS0911 in white over black card.

My hint of colour is gold in the butterfly, gold thread and gems.  Other MD products used LR0112 swirl, LR0156 leaves, LR0157 lavender, LR0142 poinsettia and LR0192 leaves.

Harvest time

Last week of the Don and Daisy Challenge 'Autumn', and I just hope my card is considered autumny enough.

I masked off Daisy and coloured the background with Brushos. I had her picking apples that had fallen rather than crocuses. The apples are made from polymer clay. I don't have the  lovely MD Autumn Leaves punch die (it's on my wish list) so I had to cut some leaves from patterned paper using a small poinsettia die. And of course with winter on its way we must not forget to feed the birds. MD dies used LR0142, LR0205, LR0261, LR0290 and CR1291.

Hope you enjoyed this fun card. Please come back again.

Pink Bows

The challenge for In The Pink is Ribbons and Bows and I happened to have a ribbon of bows so made this fairly simple but very girly card.

I used 3 different pink papers and a Spellbinders Border die on 2 of them to which I added some faux stitching in gold. I added another ribbon with a bow along the top.
I cut Marianne Anja corner in pink card and leaves from MD LR0156

Autumn leaves

Here is Daisy dancing in the fallen leaves. I have used pale lemon card for the mat and die cuts and lovely leafy backing papers from my stash.

Marianne dies I have used are LR0116 frame, LR0112 swirl, LR0285 vintage corner and COL1304 for the leaves which I cut from mulberry paper. The flower is from  a LeCrea die which I also cut from mulberry paper.

I added some vintage looking lace and ribbon some twine and a crackle painted heart with sentiment. I cut the heart out of chipboard, coloured it with vintage photo distress ink then painted on a coat of school glue and a layer of acrylic paint and let it dry before stamping the sentiment and inking the edges.

I cut out Daisy and placed her on the die cut seat. Autumn

It has been a wet Bank Holiday Monday so I have gone  a little overboard for my card for the Don and Daisy Challenge ' Autumn' and dug out one or two products I don't usually use.

I wanted to use some gilding flakes to look like fallen leaves so I randomly glued them along the bottom of the Alla Prima paper which is actually much greener than it looks in the photo. I also used Vintage Photo  round the edges and layered it onto dark brown card. I used the same card to mat a piece of Paper Cellar Floral Grunge and as backing for my image of Hiking Don. I also cut 2 Vintage corners, on which I rubbed some gold gilding wax, out of the same card plus the birds on a branch and seed heads. The fence and topiary were cut from Kraft card and I added some tiny punched leaves to the branch, some punched flowers and 3 green gems.

Summer Break

In the Pink challenge is Fly Away, hope you can see the little birds in this pretty Melissa Francis paper. I chose the Daisy in the Sun stamp for the topper, matted on to pink card with the rose die in one corner.

I cut the doily, flower and tiny punched butterflies out of the same floral paper. The post card is from Luna girl a prize for my Peaches and Cream card from Crafting from the Heart. I was so pleased to also make The Shabby Tea Room  terrific top 3 with that card.
MD dies used LR0130 doily and flower, LR0156 lavender leaves, LR0215 small rose corner, LR0285 vintage corner.

Back to School

I took for inspiration the photo for the Shabby Tea Room challenge and the beautiful cards by the Design Team. I have tried to incorporate as many elements as possible.

The sentiment was from a Sheena Douglas stamp collection and I added an apple brad in the corner.  I used a ribbler to corrugate some craft card for the 'pencil' vase. I have added some Flower Soft to the sunflowers. After adding the  butterfly, bow and other elements it needed something in the bottom right corner and then I remembered I had some feathers so I used one to represent a quill pen.

Marianne Design dies used LR0361 sunflower, LR0281 corner, LR0261 butterfly, CR1242 passe partout rectangle.

Pretty in Pink

I needed to do a thank you card and for a lady it has to be pink. I chose this lovely patterned paper and topped with some patterned card which also has a slight pattern
but is hard to see in the photo. Then I used cream card for the die cuts and green for the leaves

Marianne Design dies used LR0112 swirls, LR0156 leaves, LR0202 Anja edge,LR0272 Anja Vintage Frame and LR0224 Thanks. Finished with mulberry flowers, pearls and 2 die cut butterflies.

Peaches and Cream

I've been using up some of the pre-cut decoupage pieces I've had given me. When people know you're a crafter you often get things 'passed on' and I like to reciprocate with bits I'm not going to use. You probably do the same. I thought these flowers would go well with the peaches and cream theme for the Shabby Tea Room.

I layered some lovely Raspberry Road paper onto orange card and used cream card to cut out the Marianne Design circle frame LR0112 and doily LR0130. I cut a large butterfly CR1205 and 3 small butterflies LR0261. I finished with some pearls on the butterflies and randomly placed some in the corner.

Brusho Poppies

I saw a card on Pinterest recently using Bister crystal pigments and thought I might try something for the Make My Monday Flower challenge. So I ordered some of the equivalent in the UK. Then I saw Suzi B (DT) had a similar idea. This is my first time in using Brushos so please excuse my poor effort.

It is a very simple card using a Sheena Douglas stamp on watercolour paper and backed with red card. I softened the edges with Broken China distress ink. Not sure about the butterfly but it needed something.
I still have a lot to learn but these paints are so dynamic I'm going to have some fun working with them.

Circles

A quick post. For my second entry for the Marianne's Design Divas Challenge 'Circles' I have chosen  the Skating Don stamp.

I started with the background paper of circles. I cut a circle out of another paper and a doily out of dark blue card.
I added some glitter to the flower and to the snowflakes and lace and Gems.

Round Easel Card

I got an honourable mention at the Shabby Tea Room for my last card. Thanks ladies. Hope this qualifies for the latest challenge.

Marianne's Design Divas Challenge is a round card or use circles so I decided to use MD die LR0112 circle die to make an easel card using pale pink card. I then cut a doily in cream using MD die LR0130. I cut swirls in pink from LR0116 and LR0248 Tiny's flower.

The sentiment was framed with the small Passe Partout rectangle CR1242. For the centre I used some decoupage of a tortoiseshell butterfly on bramble, something I don't often  do but happened to have in my stash. I laced some organza Ribbon round the side and added a cluster of flowers with a small heart charm.

A lovely sunny yellow theme for this card. I used the Daisy Coffee Time stamp and coloured it to blend into the yellow card and Alla Prima paper with a little purple to contrast.

I backed the Image with LR0122 circle die and a paper doily. I used the MD pansy die CR1305 and LR0224 'Just for you' which I cut in yellow and brown to make a drop shadow. The Butterfly is from The Ribbon Girl and I coloured it with alcohol pens.
I added 3 small black gems to the pansy centres and 3 purple heart gems in the bottom corner.

Strawberries and Cake

This was inspired by the Make My Monday challenge Sweet Summer Treats and as I've been watching Wimbledon of course I thought of strawberries and remembered I had this lovely Raspberry Road paper. I used the reverse behind the topper which is Sweet Daisy carrying a lovely chocolate and cherry cake.

I used MD dies LR0116, LR0201, and LR0156 for the flower to mirror Daisy's hat. The tiny butterflies are from MD die LR0261 and have little green gems to match the paper.

Another Shabby Chic

I was pleased to be in the top 3 of Butterfly Challenge with my Pansies and Butterflies card. My butterfly this time is a gold peel off stuck onto vellum and coloured pink. I made a trail from the Butterfly with tiny pearls.

I distressed and stitched the backing papers before mounting on card. The stamp is lazy Daisy and I mounted her on pink card with MD die LR0215 small rose corner.
I coloured some cheesecloth with worn lipstick distress ink before adding the leaves and flowers. The large flower is made with flower punches trimmed, shaped and coloured with distress ink with a pink gem in the middle. The small flowers are bought and I found some tiny stamens in my stash. Upright Z Fold

The Don and Daisy latest challenge is an unusual upright Z fold. The tricky bit is to finding a way to prop it open. I had to move the birdhouse down slightly because it was unstable.

I stamped Don directly onto the paper. The birdhouse was secured with a large apple brad. MD dies used LR0157 lavender, LR0192 leaves, LR0205 fence, LR0209 tulips
and CR1291 birdhouse. I added a butterfly sticker and printed a quote by Anne Frank which I stuck on chipboard.

I've just started following the Butterfly Challenge blog and the challenge this week is Flowers, the same as Marianne's Design Divas. So here is Daisy picking crocuses and I've used MD pansy die CR1305 in the top right corner with some punched leaves.

The background paper has tiny butterflies and on top of that some floral paper.

By the Sea

It's not looking very summery at the moment but hopefully the sun will be back next week. I'm looking forward to our next trip to Cornwall to visit my daughter. I did a little watercolour sketch of St Ives Cornwall before stamping Daisy whom I coloured with Spectrum Noir, hopefully to stand out from the background.

I used Marianne Design dies LR0199 and LR0230 for the boat and shells and LR0142 for the flowers. The centres for the flowers are flower soft. The tiny butterfly is from MD die LR0261 and the little corner die I think was a freebie with a magazine.

Shabby Chic

I love this style though not my normal type of card and not easy to get the right look.
There are some very talented people out there who are much better at this.

To do this I tore the lovely hummingbird paper diagonally and tucked another strip  of paper and some lace underneath. I inked the edges of the papers with aged mahogany distressed ink.
I used Marianne Dies Anja corner in pink Centura Pearl plus some bought and punched  flowers and leaves and swirls made with MD dies LR0116, LR0156 and LR0157. I used the small rectangle from MD die CR1242 to frame the sentiment.

I love this vintage image of swallows round a window and to frame it I used Marianne Design die Petra's bridge.

I stitched the backing paper on to pink card and added some lace down the right side.
I used Anja lace border die on the edge of the floral paper. The die cut leaves and flowers were tinted with distress ink to keep the vintage look. Then I mounted it on magenta card before sticking to the card blank.

New Home

I thought I would do something different from my usual 6 x 6 card for the Marianne Design Divas Challenge so I have made a basic side step card.

I have used Don and Daisy Moving House and framed it with Passe Partout rectangle CR1242. The paper is Raspberry Road and very 'busy' so I have just used a die cut lamp  LR0267 for an embellishment to the room. Then on the step side I have used fence die LR0205 and the new Lily of the Valley die CR1308 which became, with a little imagination, foxgloves. Also used the New Home die CR1314.

You don't really need a template as long as the measurement for the down step is the same as the measurement for the fold past the center fold.

Daisy Picking Crocuses

I have used the Daisy Picking Crocuses stamp and the new Marianne Design dies Pansies and Lily of the Valley for this card.

I turned the Lily of the Valley  into bluebells as they are just coming in to flower in the woods here.
Marianne Design dies used, LR0130 Doily, LR0205 Bird, LR0224 Thanks, CR1305 Tiny's Pansy, CR1308. Tiny's Lily of the Valley.
