Dorset Button

The theme for the Shabby Tea Shop is Just Neutrals using this photo for inspiration.

When I saw it I thought of Dorset Buttons so I used one as the center for the Marianne Doily. It's very basic with a lot of the spokes showing. I think I need more practice.

I used neutral cream and brown for the layered papers and tinted them and the paper doily, tucked behind the MD doily, with vintage photo. I added stitching for a shabby look and some white lace. The flower is from a Lea'bilities die and the leaves from MD dies.

Heart of Gold

I made this card with a particular friend in mind who is going through a difficult time. A kind of vintage/shabby chic.

I started by distressing and inking the edges of the 2 Vintage Style papers and layering them onto tan coloured card. the large heart was cut with the large Die'sire heart doily die, painted with antique gold metallic paint with touches of perfect pearls. I used perfect pearls to stamp and coloured the butterfly before cutting  out of cream card from  MD COL1318

I used the same cream card for the Marianne Design leaves and small tag. I used orange seam binding to make a bow and added a metal embellishment. The flowers were made from mulberry paper from Metal  Box Petal Party and tinted with vintage photo and the olive green leaves were cut with LA LA Land Creepy Vine, tinted with shabby shutters distress ink. Finishing touches lace, sequins and silver resin heart.

The challenge for Marianne Design Divas is Black and White or 2 favourite colours. I think my 2 favorite colours depends on the style of card so for a vintage style card I am using light blue and brown.

I used 3 Melissa Francis papers for the backing papers, distressed the edges with vintage photo which I also used on the die cuts and lace. I coloured the seam binding with Spectrum Noir which gave it a faded look. The picture is mounted on chipboard and dimensionals.
MD dies used LR0156, LR0157, LR0248, LR0241 and CR1273

The In the Pink challenge was to use different folds. This is what I came up with

Using pink card as a base I placed the Anja corner die on the fold and cut another piece with the majenta card cutting out and using just the center.
I cut round the pink patterned paper with the corner die and stuck it on the front and inside.
I made a 1 inch step on the front and cut the flowers out of pink card using MD CR1273 and stuck it to the front step.
I cut 2 strips of majenta card and punched along one edge. I added some lace and stuck to the sides of the card.
I die cut a frame for Daisy out of majenta card using MD CR1242 and added to the center of the card.
I printed the sentiment and added to one corner. I finished with some punched paper butterflies and some gems on the flowers.

The theme for In the Pink challenge is Sparkle and Bling so I have used Diva Daisy in her party frock and added some silver glitter.

I layered her on deep pink scalloped oval card. I die cut a corner of the pink backing paper with MD large rose corner die layered it onto pink card and rounded the other 3 corners.
I cut a border out of a strip of pale pink paper with MD die LR0201 and cut a flower out of the same paper with the flower from MD LR0130. I added some pink lace and silver and pink ribbon.
I added some pink pearls round the image  and a silver heart and bling to the left. The butterfly is a silver peal off mounted on acetate and coloured pink.

autumn shades

I hope we haven't seen the last of the summer weather but everyone seems to be thinking autumn so I have done a monochrome card in shades of brown on the theme of autumn for the Marianne Design Divas challenge.

I have used MD dies LR0143 and LR0205 for the corner and fence and I rubbed a little gilding wax over them. I used MD dies LR0156 and LR0192 for the leaves.
The sentiment was cut out with the smallest spellbinders Fleur de lis die and mounted on chipboard.

This card was inspired by the Shabby Tea Room challenge 'Autumn Bliss' including pumpkin.
I didn't have any images of pumpkins so I painted the pumpkin in watercolour and cut it out adding some die cut leaves.

I found some little tins of acrylic metallic and glitter paints on a market stall and used these to decorate the chipboard corner and flourish and the flowers which are made of mulberry paper.

Just a quick card I made for the Cute Card Thursday challenge 'Rainbows'.
I made it using some of my scraps up. I never throw anything away bigger than an inch or two.

3 strips of paper cut at an angle and layered onto maroon card. They are mounted onto cream card and a ribbon added before sticking to the card base. A die cut butterfly and gems added to finish.

I've not put my embossing folders to use much lately so this was the reason behind today's  card.
I randomly coloured the embossing folder with spiced marmalade and mustard seed distress ink before embossing the card. I went over parts with the mustard seed and dabbed on a few spots of red acrylic ink.

I coloured the edges of the  raspberry road paper and embossed card with vintage photo added a strip of lace and stuck to the card base.
The image was in line with the Shabby Tea Room theme 'Reading'. I stuck it onto chipboard and edged with vintage photo.
I cut the flower swirl out of pink card to match the pattern in the paper using MD LR0248. The orange flower was from LR0130 and the leaves from
LR0156. I added a gem in the middle of the flower, some bought flowers and leaves and gold rhinestones. The sentiment was printed from a computer and edged in vintage photo.

Another card with Don and Daisy, this time the Just Married stamp.
The theme for the Shabby Tea Room last week was Celebration using pink, flowers and lace. It is very pink and I have used a strip of lace along the bottom. I tinted the flowers to match the flower in Daisy's hair. Unfortunately I missed the deadline.

I added some punched leaves and ribbon to the flowers.  Top right I used MD die LR0248 to cut the flower out of pink card and MD die LR0241 for the sentiment. The cake is a memory box die and I decorated it with punched butterflies. I finished with two pink hearts top left.

Summer Dreams

The Challenge for The Shabby Tea Room this  week is Summer Dreams inspired by this photograph.

I wanted to make a different shaped card so this is what I came up with, a twisted hexagon easel card.

Sorry this is such a quick post but I have a busy few days ahead.

Time for Tea

A card made with the Don and Daisy stamp 'Coffee time' or tea time here in England.
I framed it with the MD Passe Partout die.

I layered the stripe backing paper onto orange card followed by the pink floral paper.
For the embellishments I added an orange ribbon, a pink fabric flower, tulips cut from MD die LR0209, tea set from LR0315 with some pastries made from polymer clay which I have from when I used to make miniature food for dolls houses. I finished with 3 small black pearls.

Clean and Simple

I made this card for the Papertake Weekly Challenge Spots and Dots.
I kept it very simple with an embossed panel with the flower stem cut out in black and green

The next card was me with too much time on my hands, so I was playing around with different techniques and materials.

I used a mask and homemade texture paste for the wire mesh and homemade crackle paste for the heart with the sentiment (need to practice this). I stamped embossed and cut out the dragonfly, made the daisies and used some flower soft to give some texture to the centres.

Close up of some or the elements.

I enjoyed making this though it took a lot longer than the first card.

Hearts and Flowers

I was inspired to make this card by the Cute Card Thursday Challenge as I do like to use lace in my cards when appropriate.

I distressed the edges of the pink backing paper and  layered onto dark red card. Then I cut a strip of patterned paper, distressed and stuck down one side. Then I added the lace top and bottom.
I cut a scalloped heart out of patterned paper and a fancy Die Sire heart out of pink Centura card. Also a corner out of the pink card with MD LR0143.
The large rose and pink buds were bought. The smaller flowers and leaves were made with a punch and the cream leaves with MD dies LR 0156 and LR0157.
I used an Anja Label MD LR0241 and embossed the sentiment in silver. I cut a butterfly out of cream card and pink vellum and finished the card with assorted hearts including a metal heart below the flower.

vintage get well

I have had another attempt at shabby chic with this get well card using a bought image mounted onto card.

I cut a border for the image out of card and tinted with vintage photo with a little perfect pearl to give it a bit of a shine. I cut the tag out of the same card stamped the sentiment with sepia ink and added some tinted twine.
All the flowers and leaves, the border and the doily, which I cut in half, were cut out of cream card and tinted with vintage photo distress ink.
I distressed and tinted the pink polka dot paper stamped the fany corners with sepia ink and matted onto the base card. I die cut the bottom edge of the floral paper, glued it to the cream card and added the pink lace.
The butterfly was made with double sided adhesive paper and gilding flakes. I finished with some pale pink organza ribbon, a gem in the center of the flower and a few sequins.

get well

The theme for Cute Card Thursday Challenge this week is Pretty Papers and I used one of the lovely designs from the Craft Nouveau paper stack by Kraftyhands for this card.

I layered it on to pink card and layered the image, which I have coloured with Spectrum Noir, on to the same card. I also cut the Anja flower border and the flower out of the same pink card and backed the flower with a darker pink.
To assemble I added some pink lace on the left hand side. I cut the birds out of a patterned buff coloured card, added a gem to the flower center and used liquid pearl for the border flower centers. I finished with a butterfly cut from the darker pink card.

Hello Summer

I've been making the most of this fine weather and enjoying the garden. It's a pity I can't take my craft room outside. However back to card making, the theme for Design Divas and In the Pink is coincidentally flowers, so this is the card I have made. I have again used a Don and Daisy stamp, this time I used Daisy in the Sun.

After colouring with Spectrum Noir pens I added a little flower soft in the grass and layered onto pink card then added a Marianne Design small rose corner LR0215.
I layered some floral paper onto pink card turning back one corner and fastening with a flower brad. I then used the reverse pattern of the paper to cut a strip with the MD border die LR0201. I added some lace and after attaching the topper to the card I added the rose trim.
I cut the flower and leaves out of pink and red card with MD LR0156 added the sentiment and finished with pink gems.

Shabby Chic

The theme for In the Pink challenge is Shabby Chic/Vintage. Not my usual style but I had some Raspberry Road paper that came with a magazine. I distressed the edges slightly added some lace distressed with tea die distress ink and layered onto Kraft card.

I cut a doily out of patterned paper and distressed with vintage photo, printed the image and distressed with antique linen before adding.
I cut a fancy corner out of Kraft card plus a small heart for the sentiment.
The leaves were punched out of mulberry paper and added with the pink roses.
I was fortunate to find in my sewing box the lace dragonfly, just what was needed with 3 small pearls added, plus a silver resin heart to finish in the bottom corner.

For my 2nd post today I also decided to use the doily die on another card. This time the colour scheme was purple/pink.

I used Anja corner die and lace border die on pink patterned paper and layered on to the purple inks. then added pink lace and ribbon.
I cut the doily and flower out of cream card and tinted with distress inks.
I cut leaves out of purple card and butterflies in pink.
MD dies used LR0130, LR0200, LR0201, LR0156, LR0192

I've just received the new Don and Daisy stamp 'Diva Daisy' from
Maddylisa Crafts so I wanted to do a really bright and cheerful card.

I layered the patterned paper on to some orange card and added some orange and silver ribbon before mounting on the card base.
I used MD  die LR0130 to cut a doily out of the orange card and tinted with fired brick distress ink.
I stamped Daisy on to white card and part cut out with a scalloped circle die trimming the rest with scissors. I then coloured with spectrum noir pens adding some silver glitter glue.
I cut out a  corner using LR0143 from the orange card and a Memory Box butterfly adding glitter to the edge of the wings.
I embossed the sentiment with silver and added 3 red gems to the top right corner.

Tuesday, 20 May 2014

I used pink Centura Pearl for this card. I die cut one corner with Marianne large rose corner and rounded the other three corners. I cut a strip of patterned paper with Anja border die, added pink lace and ribbon and placed down the left side. I stuck some silver and pink patterned paper onto a 6 x 6 card base and added the pink card over the top.

The sentiment was printed off a computer, cut out and backed with silver card.
For the embellishments I cut a butterfly out of pink card and pink vellum and finished with silver liquid pearls. The leaves and feather were cut out of silver paper. The flower was lace gathered and stuck onto pink card and ribbon petals added over the top finished with a pink gem.
